Connecting Your Canvas Course to E-Campus

As of now, connecting a Canvas course to an E-Campus workshop listing has to be done by an E-Campus admin (Scott, Tom, Morgan).

Here's what you can do!

(We're also happy to help with any of these steps!)

Canvas

  • Create your Canvas course
  • Add your content in Canvas
  • Publish your Canvas content and modules when they are complete.
  • To expedite publishing your course, provide the Canvas Course number and Canvas Section ID number in your publishing request. Visit our article on how to locate a Canvas course # and Section ID to learn more.

E-Campus

Here's what needs to be done by request:

  • Connecting a Canvas course to an E-Campus listing. Email onlinelearning@esc13.txed.net when you're ready to connect a course. Let us know what workshop ID and what Canvas course.
  • Final publishing of the Canvas course. This should happen when the course connection is requested unless there is a reason you don't want the course visible yet.
  • Publishing of the E-Campus catalog listing. The regular workshop publishing workflow applies. These requests go to publish@esc13.txed.net

Notes:

  • In general, it is best to have one E-Campus course for each Canvas course. There are exceptions, and we're happy to talk through your specific case.
  • The build order does not matter - the E-Campus listing can be open for registration while the Canvas course is still in development, or the Canvas course build can be done before the E-Campus listing is built or published.
  • Canvas courses can be connected at any point - even after participants have registered.
  • The Show Launch Button setting (in Workshop Properties) must be set to Yes for the Launch button to appear.
  • If used, the E-Campus settings Access Date and Due Date (in Workshop Registration) control when the Launch button appears.
  • Canvas has course start and end dates in the course settings. If you are using E-Campus access and end dates, these should match.
