Adding or Choosing a Thumbnail for a Wistia Video


Getting Started

Log in to your Wistia account, and locate the video with the thumbnail image you want to modify. Click on the name of the video, then choose Customize from the menu on the left.

Next select Thumbnail from the Customize menu.


Selecting an Image Thumbnail

Select image for the [1] Type of thumbnail. To choose an image you have created, click [2] Upload a new image. Alternatively, you can choose an image from the video itself by pressing play and pausing the video on the image you would like to display. Click Use the current frame once you have selected a frame of the video you would like to use as a thumbnail image. In the [3] Alt Text box, enter in some alternate that accurately describes your video. If you would like to include [4] text overlay on your thumbnail, click the include text overlay box and input your text in the text overlay box. When all of your changes are complete click the save button at the top of the window.


Selecting a Video Thumbnail

Select video for the [1] Type of thumbnail. You will need to input or use the start and end [2] Configure slider located below the video timeline to configure the start and end times of your thumbnail. In the [3] Alt Text box, enter in some alternate that accurately describes your video. If you would like to include [4] Text Overlay on your thumbnail click the include text overlay box and input the text you would like to overlay on your thumbnail. It may take a few minutes for Wistia to process the text overlay. When all of your changes are complete click the save button at the top of the window.
