Using the Meeting Owl
This guide will walk you through the steps to connect your laptop to the Meeting Owl for video conferencing via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
- Step 1:
- Ensure Zoom is Up to Date
- Open the Zoom application on your laptop.
- Navigate to your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner.
- Select Check for Updates from the dropdown menu.
- If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it.
- Relaunch Zoom after the update.
- Ensure Zoom is Up to Date
- Step 2:
- Connect Your Laptop to the Meeting Owl using provided USB-C cord.
- Ensure the device is positioned at the center of the meeting table for optimal audio and video capture.
- Connect Meeting Owl to power outlet.
- Wait for the Owl’s eyes to light up, indicating it’s ready.
- Connect Your Laptop to the Meeting Owl using provided USB-C cord.
- Step 3:
- Set Up Zoom to Use the Meeting Owl
- Open Zoom and join or start a meeting.
- Click the arrow next to the microphone icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Under Select a Microphone, choose Meeting Owl.
- Under Select a Speaker, choose Meeting Owl.
- Click the arrow next to the camera icon.
- Under Select a Camera, choose Meeting Owl.
- Test the setup:
- Speak into the Meeting Owl to check the microphone.
- Confirm you can hear audio through the Owl’s speaker.
- Ensure the Owl’s 360° camera captures video correctly.
- Set Up Zoom to Use the Meeting Owl
- Step 4:
- Adjust Zoom Settings for Optimal Performance
- Open Zoom’s Settings (gear icon in the top-right corner of the home screen).
- Navigate to the Video tab:
- Ensure Meeting Owl is selected as the camera.
- Adjust lighting and video settings as needed.
- Navigate to the Audio tab:
- Ensure the Microphone and Speaker are set to Meeting Owl.
- Test both the microphone and speaker using the built-in tools.
- Adjust Zoom Settings for Optimal Performance
Troubleshooting Tips:
- The Owl isn’t appearing as an option:
- Unplug and reconnect the USB cable.
- Restart your laptop and try again.

- Audio or video quality is poor:
- Ensure the Owl is positioned centrally and unobstructed.
- Check for other applications using the Owl and close them.
Wrapping-Up:
- Disconnect the Meeting Owl by unplugging the USB cable.
- Power off the device if it won’t be used immediately.
- Ensure the Owl and cables are stored neatly. Return Meeting Owl to where you found it!
