Quick Start Guide to Canvas

About Canvas

Canvas is our Learning Management System (LMS). It is where our online courses are built and hosted.

How to Get Access and Start Building: 

1. You need teacher access to create courses in Region 13's Canvas. If you're not a teacher yet or if you're not sure, send us a message at onlinelearning@esc13.txed.net and we'll get you set up!
2. When you're ready to start building for real, head to your Canvas dashboard and click on Start a New Course. Enter your course title (you can always change this later), leave the Content License set to Private, do not click the box next to Make course publicly visible, and click Create Course. That's it! This will open a new, blank course shell. 
3. If you would like to import the course starter template into your new course shell, view our help document, Importing a Region 13 Course Template.
