Upload or Record Media to Your Canvas Course

You can use the Rich Content Editor in Canvas to add audio or video to your course on announcements, pages, assignments, discussions, and quizzes. Note: The Upload Media Tool in the Rich Content Editor is limited to 15 minutes and is recommended for short instructional or informational videos or audio. 

Uploading Media or Record

1. In the toolbar menu, select the [1] Upload Media Tool icon, then choose [2] Upload/Record Media from the drop-down menu.

If you have media already created choose the [4] Computer tab. Drag and drop your file to the [5] Drag a file here box in the center then click [6] Submit.

Recording Media

If you would like to record audio or video, select the [7] Record tab. Give Canvas permission to access your microphone and camera at this time. If your image appears and your mic quality is good click the [8] Start Recording button to begin. If you would like to change your default microphone or webcam click the [8] Mic or [10] Webcam buttons to select an alternative.

Once your recording is complete click Finish and then Save to insert the video.
