Embedding Videos in Canvas

If you have embed code* for a video, you can use it in any of the content types of Canvas. It's super easy - here's how:

1. Open or create the content piece where you want the video to show (page, quiz, discussion, etc).

2. If the editor isn't open, click Edit at the top right

3. Place your cursor where you want the video to appear on the page. Note: The cursor position marks the spot your video will appear. You can align your video at this time by using the Align button on the Rich Content Editor toolbar.

4. Click the [2] Embed button on the toolbar. If the Embed button is not present on your toolbar click the [1] More menu on the right and select the [2] Embed button. Alternatively, you can use the menubar and go to Insert and choose Embed from the drop-down menu.

  • In the window that comes up, click on the Embed tab
  • Paste your embed code here
  • Click Ok
  • If you like how it looks, click Save to save your page

Done!

As always, please let us know at onlinelearning@esc13.txed.net if you have any questions or need any help.

 * Embed code is a block of HTML gobbledygook that you may get from the video team, Distance Learning, or other hosted online videos like YouTube. You don't need to understand it, you just have to copy and paste it.
