Embedding a Wistia Video into a Canvas Page
Opening and Editing a Page in Canvas
1. To get started you will need to login to Canvas and Wistia. Open the Canvas course that you want to embed the video into.
2. Select a page in your course by clicking on Pages or Modules in the Course Navigation Menu. From the index of pages or module view locate the page your want to edit and click on the name of the page to view it. Click on the Edit button in the upper right corner.
Opening Video in Wistia and Getting Embed Code
1. In a separate browser tab, open Wistia and locate the video you want to add to your course.
2. Click on the Videos name and then press the [1] </> Embed & Share button. Note: This button may not be visible if your screen is smaller or if you zoomed too far in on your browser. If you are using the Chrome Browser click the [2] Options menu in the upper right corner near your profile picture and use the [3] Zoom tool to zoom out to view the button. Alternatively, you can use the scroll bar at the bottom of the page to move to the right side of the page.
3. Select the [4] Inline Embed tab. You will need to decide whether you want your video to remain a fixed size or if you want it to resize to fit its container (responsive).
4. Set the Embed Type to Fallback. Select the SEO metadata checkbox if it is not already checked.
5. Click the [5] Copy button to add the embed code to the clipboard.
Inserting the Embed Code into Canvas Page
1. Return to the browser tab with the Canvas page you opened.
2. To center, right, or left align your video, use the text-align button on the toolbar. Be sure your cursor placement is correct as your video will end up on the exact spot as the cursor.
3. Select the [7] Embed tool from the toolbar. Note: If it is not visible you can zoom out or click the [6] Options button to reveal it.
Note: Alternatively, you can go to [8] Insert on the menubar, and select [9] Embed.
4. Right-click and choose paste or press Ctrl V to copy the embed code into the Embed Code window.
5. Click Submit and your video will display on your Canvas page. Be sure to click Save at the bottom of the page.
