Duplicating a Module in Canvas
Duplicating a Module
1. To duplicate or copy a module in a Canvas course, go to the modules view by clicking on modules in the course navigation menu.
2. Find the module you would like to duplicate and click on the [1] Options menu button located to the right of the module name. Select [2] Duplicate to copy the module.
Note: If the word "Duplicate" does not appear in the [1] Options menu the module cannot be duplicated in its current form. You may need to move resources such as LTI assignments or Classic quizzes out of your module to copy it. See the limitations list below for more information.
Duplicate Module View
Once a module is copied the word Copy will appear after the module name and after the name of any discussions, pages, or assignments within the module. The duplicated module will default to the unpublished status.
Limitations
Modules with Quizzes - Only New Quiz duplication is supported. Modules containing Classic Quizzes will not have the Duplicate button in the Options menu. To duplicate a module that contains a Classic Quiz, you must remove the quiz from the module, only then will Duplicate appear in the Options menu.
Modules with External Tool LTI Assignments - Duplication of modules with LTI assignments is not supported, the only exception to this is New Quizzes. You must remove the LTI assignment from the module, before the Duplicate button will appear in the Options menu.
MasteryPaths - Content in a module with a MasteryPath can be duplicated, however, the module will not keep the Mastery Path.
Prerequisites and Unlock Dates - Modules with prerequisites and unlock dates can be duplicated, but they will not retain prerequisites or unlock dates.
